Does severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) affect children differently?

Children, especially pre-adolescent children, seemed to suffer milder symptoms and have better outcomes during the 2003 outbreak than did adults. There were no confirmed deaths of children. Children do, however, often suffer symptoms of the infection.
