How much time should an athlete be given before switching playing surfaces?

An athlete should be given enough time to fully become adjusted to the court or field. An example would be the transition from soccer to basketball. The athlete should rest at least two days before stepping onto the court, and then he should slowly start activity in the gym by progressively taking on new activities.
