How does a custom athletic brace differ from a store-bought brace?

Custom braces tend to be more expensive than off-the-shelf braces, but ultimately, as long as the brace fits correctly, they will work the same. Off-the-shelf equipment is prepackaged and made ready to use; it is also cheaper. Custom equipment can be specifically sized and made to fit the protective needs of the individual. If off-the-shelf brands do not fit correctly, it is wise to spend the money and invest in a custom brace to prevent further injury.
