When can phymatous rosacea become serious?

Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD
Cardiology (Cardiovascular Disease)
Phymatous rosacea is one of the more serious forms of rosacea. As this condition worsens, you may have a greater increase in the thickness of the skin on your nose, or your nose may become larger and more bulb-like. At this more serious phase, you may need surgery.

You should see your doctor or dermatologist as soon as possible if you notice any irregularities in the shape or color of your nose. With any skin irregularity or unusual condition, the sooner you talk to your doctor or dermatologist, the sooner you will be able to begin treatment.
