If you have rosacea, talk to your doctor about using a product known as a barrier-repair emollient. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, using a barrier-repair emollient twice a day can reduce redness and prevent abnormal skin flushing. These products can be purchased over the counter. Likewise, be sure to use a good sunscreen, which can help prevent flare-ups when you're outdoors for an extended period. Avoid sunscreens that contain alcohol or fragrances, which may be irritating.
