What causes itchy skin with rosacea?

Several factors can make you more prone to itchy skin if you have rosacea. Dry skin, a common problem for people with this condition, can leave your face feeling tight and prickly. Irritating skin-care products can leave your skin feeling itchy, too. However, some people with rosacea develop an itch-inducing problem called folliculitis. This occurs when follicles -- the tiny glands that grow individual hairs -- become infected and inflamed. Don't be tempted to scratch itchy skin, which could worsen rosacea. If you have itchy skin, get checked for folliculitis and ask your doctor about choosing moisturizers and mild skin-care products.
