A number of common ingredients in skincare products can cause irritation and worsen rosacea. The National Rosacea Society conducted a survey of people with this condition and asked which ingredients in common skincare products were most likely to cause irritation. The most likely culprits include:
  • alcohol
  • witch hazel
  • fragrance
  • menthol
  • peppermint
  • eucalyptus oil
  • clove oil
  • salicylic acid
  • camphor
  • sodium lauryl sulfate
Read labels before you buy and avoid products that contain these ingredients. Toss out any product you're using now that causes your skin to sting or burn.
