Can high intensity or prolonged exercise cause rosacea?

Intense or prolonged exercise may cause an existing case of rosacea to worsen. Rosacea is a condition that causes the skin to redden and develop pimple-like bumps. Tiny blood vessels may be visible just beneath the surface of the skin. Certain triggers can cause rosacea symptoms to flare up or become worse. Many people with rosacea say that exercise leads to flare-ups.

There are steps that you can take during exercise to control rosacea flare-ups. Work out in a cool environment, if possible. Don't exercise too hard. Take frequent breaks to rest. Ask a dermatologist to discuss other ways you can avoid rosacea flare-ups when you exercise.
