There are many good strategies for keeping cool to prevent rosacea flare-ups. Dress in layers so you can loosen or remove clothing as your skin heats up during the day. Try to do your most strenuous activity during the coolest times of the day, such as early morning and evening during hot weather. If you begin to get overheated, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends cool-down strategies including sucking on ice cubes or drinking a cold beverage, taking a cool shower, misting your skin with a spritzer water bottle, draping an ice pack or cold towel around your neck, wearing sweatbands soaked in cold water, or carrying a small portable fan with you.
