What is closed rhinoplasty?

Arthur W. Perry, MD
Plastic Surgery
The closed rhinoplasty is the traditional operation. All incisions are made inside the nose and the operation is performed, upside down and inside out. The rhinoplasty masters of the 1960s through the 1980s performed closed rhinoplasty.

In the 1980s, with the push of the well-known Dallas rhinoplasty surgeons Drs. Jack Gunter and John Tebbets, and Drs. Rollin Daniel and Ronald Gruber of California, the open rhinoplasty was taught to a new generation of plastic surgeons.
