Will rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affect my heart?

RA can affect the health of your heart.  Help protect your heart by choosing a heart healthy diet and staying physically active.  A heart healthy diet is a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, healthy fats such as those found in nuts, seeds, fish, and olive oil, and plenty of whole grains such as oatmeal, brown rice, and quinoa.  Managing your weight can also help protect your heart.  If you need to lose weight, start by decreasing the size of the portions you eat.  Give your typical plate a make over.  Aim for at least half your meals coming from fruits and vegetables, 1/4 from whole grain, and the other 1/4 from lean protein.
