Can meditation help treat rheumatoid arthritis?

Meditation may help ease symptoms caused by rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Two trials investigated the use of meditation in RA treatment. In one trial, meditation was tested for eight weeks against a control group. There were no significant differences between the two groups in their symptoms of depression, mindfulness, psychological distress and psychological well-being. However, by six months, psychological distress and psychological well-being were significantly improved in the meditation group. Experts believe more proof is needed of the effectiveness of meditation in RA management.
