Before taking Avage (tazarotene), you need to know that it should not be taken by women who are pregnant, as it could cause birth defects in a fetus. You should avoid becoming pregnant while taking Avage. It is not known whether this medication passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, discuss the possible risks with your doctor before taking this medication. Avage should also not be used by someone who has a sunburn or eczema. You should wait until you are fully healed before using this medication. This medication may also cause an allergic reaction. If you experience an allergic reaction, you should not use this medication. Limit your exposure to sunlight, as your skin may have an increased sensitivity to it while using Avage.
