What should I know about tazarotene gel before using it?

Women of childbearing age should make sure they are not pregnant, proven with a negative pregnancy test, before they start using tazarotene gel. While using the gel, take extreme care not to become pregnant, such as using two methods of birth control. If you are sunburned, you should not start the medication until the sunburn has healed. Your doctor should know if you have high blood lipid levels, lentigo maligna, or sunlight sensitivity, or if you are taking vitamin A supplements or any other herbal or vitamin supplements, before you start using tazarotene gel.
