Is eosinophilic pneumonia serious?

In most cases, eosinophilic pneumonia is not a serious condition and can resolve on its own without treatment. It can, however, develop into a severe form called acute idiopathic eosinophilic pneumonia. In that case it can be a serious, even life-threatening condition, as the acute form can lead to respiratory failure in a matter of hours.
