How common is radiation fibrosis?

People who undergo radiation therapy for cancer tend to experience some damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. For instance, of women with breast cancer who receive radiation treatment, 25 percent will develop radiation fibrosis. Between 3 and 5 percent of these cases will be severe.
