Clinical trials are underway to develop new treatments for radiation fibrosis. Medicines with antioxidant properties and vitamin E have shown some progress in reversing the scarring from radiation fibrosis. Gene therapies also hold promise. Doctors are also experimenting with preventative treatments during the time of radiation exposure with cancer therapy.
