In some cases, people with minimal RLS symptoms may be able to improve their condition without medication. Avoiding caffeine and alcohol and quitting smoking can be helpful. Getting regular exercise and implementing a consistent sleep schedule can help reduce symptoms, too. Other possible alternative treatments include taking warm baths, heating and icing the arms and legs, and getting massages.
