What are the side effects of calfactant?

Calfactant does not usually cause many side effects. The medication is similar to the lung lubricants that are naturally produced by the body. Your baby may experience a slower heartbeat while receiving calfactant. Because your baby will be carefully monitored in the hospital, any side effects will be addressed right away.
