What is levocetirizine?

Levocetirizine, sold under the brand name Xyzal, is an antihistamine used to treat chronic hives, runny noses, red and teary eyes and other seasonal allergies by decreasing the body's production of histamine, which is responsible for causing numerous allergic reactions. Levocetirizine can only be acquired through a physician's prescription and comes in tablets and liquid to be taken orally.
