What is desloratadine (Clarinex)?

Desloratadine (Clarinex) is a prescription antihistamine used for treating allergies and hay fever. It can help relieve symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing or red, itchy eyes. It is very similar to the over-the-counter antihistamine loratadine (Claritin). It comes in different forms: tablet, oral liquid and an orally disintegrating tablet. It also comes in a combination with the decongestant pseudoephedrine, known as Clarinex-D.
