What is benzathine benzylpenicillin?

Benzathine benzylpenicillin, also called penicillin G benzathine, is an antibiotic administered only by intramuscular injection. It is most often used to treat syphilis.
It may also be used for upper respiratory infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
