How is cyproheptadine (Periactin) used?

Cyproheptadine (Periactin) should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The tablet or liquid solution is usually taken by mouth two to three times daily for a range of allergy conditions such as dermatitis, eczema and insect bites, but it should not be taken for asthma attacks. It should be taken around the same time each day.
