If you have type 1 Gaucher's disease then the oral medication, miglustat (Zavesca), may help you. This medicine seems to hinder the production of certain enzymes that trigger the development of fatty substances. When these fatty substances accumulate (and are not broken down correctly) they can lead to the symptoms of type 1 Gaucher's disease (organ and tissue malfunction and bone pain). This medicine may cause diarrhea, weight loss, and interfere with the production of sperm, so talk to your doctor about whether or not this treatment option is right for you.
