The main symptom of a ranula is the formation of a mass underneath the tongue. It may be blue in color, but in most cases, it is painless. The mass may be large enough to interfere with eating, chewing, and swallowing.

A ranula is a cyst on the floor of the mouth. The cyst is usually painless but may grow very large in size on one side of the mouth. If you have a mouth cyst and think it may be a ranula, see your dentist.
