Are cigarettes safer if they have low tar?

Low-tar cigarettes are a myth. Although cigarette manufacturers poke tiny holes in the filters to lower the amount of tar you ingest, your fingers likely block the holes when you hold the cigarette. Low-tar smokers also tend to inhale more deeply to get the nicotine they crave.
