Different medications work to treat scalp psoriasis in different ways. Light therapy, or phototherapy, uses ultraviolet light to kill excess skin cells. Oral medications usually work to stop the overgrowth of skin cells, and often contain stronger ingredients like cyclosporine and methotrexate.
