The most common prostate problem in men is benign prostate hypertrophy (or hyperplasia), called BPH, which is enlargement of the prostate gland. This is extremely common and occurs in 40% to 50% of men ages 51 to 60, and in 80% of men over age 80. Therefore, if you are male and live long enough, it is likely you will develop BPH. Other problems affecting the prostate include infection and cancer.
