Breathing exercises are necessary after prostate surgery in order to reduce the risks of respiratory complications after surgery. During surgery and anesthesia the lungs are not fully inflated and tend to collect mucus. The breathing exercises done after surgery assist to fully inflate the lungs and clear it of any secretions that may potentially cause respiratory problems.
