Megestrol acetate oral suspension is a prescription medication that is used for treatment of weight loss and loss of appetite. It may also  be used to treat loss of appetite and weight loss  in people who have AIDS. Megestrol acetate is also used in the  treatment of advanced breast cancer and endometrial cancer. It is not specifically known how megestrol acetate oral suspension works. This medication is a synthetic form of the hormone, progesterone. Megestrol acetate oral suspension is available under the brand name, Megace, and comes as a liquid that is taken orally.
