What are the side effects of megestrol acetate tablets?

Possible side effects of megestrol acetate tablets include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, menstrual bleeding, weight gain, hot flashes, sweating, headache, and difficulty sleeping. More serious side effects may include vision changes, swelling or numbness in a leg or an arm, and a sudden severe headache. If you experience any of these serious side effects, seek emergency medical attention. This medication may also cause an allergic reaction. Signs of this are hives, swelling, closing of the throat, and difficulty breathing. If you develop any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.
