What are the side effects of megestrol acetate oral suspension?

Mild side effects of megestrol acetate oral suspension may include indigestion, gas, headache, and difficulty sleeping. More serious side effects of this medication may include: depression and unusual thoughts; coughing up blood; decreased sexual ability or desire; leg pain, calf pain or tenderness; menstrual changes; nausea; chest pain; swelling of fingers or ankles; unexplained vaginal bleeding; vomiting; shortness of breath; seizures; signs of an infection; muscle weakness; increased appetite, thirst, or urination; irregular heartbeat; unusual weight gain in the face; and dizziness. If you experience any of these serious side effects, seek emergency medical attention.
