How do megestrol acetate tablets interact with other medications?

Megestrol acetate tablets may interact with several diabetes medications. These include glipizide, glyburide, chlorpropamide, tolbutamide, and tolazamide. Interaction with megestrol acetate may cause a decrease in the effectiveness of these drugs or cause your blood sugar to increase.Megestrol acetate tablets also interact with indinavir (Crixivan), which is an antiviral medication used in a group of HIV medications called protease,  rifampin and ,dofetilide. Keep your doctor informed about all medications that you are taking or intend to take while using megestrol acetate tablets.
