What is a threatened miscarriage?

If a miscarriage is "threatened," it means there is a chance it might happen. In these cases, you will probably experience bleeding. When your doctor examines your cervix, though, it will not be dilating so you might be told to take it easy. You'll be asked to monitor your bleeding and notify your doctor if it gets worse. Many threatened miscarriages have turned out to be normal pregnancies, so it is best to follow your doctor's advice and take the time to rest.
