Placenta accreta cannot be prevented. You cannot control how deeply the placenta will attach itself to the uterus. Previous uterine surgeries, uterine fibroids, and c-section as well as placenta previa (a placenta that covers the cervix) may have something to do with it, but doctors are not sure why these conditions can result in placenta accreta.
