Can chorioamnionitis be prevented?

Since chorioamnionitis is usually caused by an infection that starts in the vagina, antibiotic treatment of that vaginal infection is one approach to prevention of the disease. Be sure to bring any signs of vaginal infection to your doctor's attention right away. Your doctor may implement other means of prevention of chorioamnionitis, such as changing the way you are examined or monitored during pregnancy.
