Can children's vitamins cause severe poisoning or death?

YES! When considering vitamins for children the quality of the vitamin must be considered: a reputable maker, a quality brand, additives and mode of administration. A brand recommended by your pediatrician is the best type to give. Second: think about the doses of vitamins: what is appropriate for your child, what deficiencies do they have and what are their needs based on their age. Overdosing on vitamins can cause severe organ damage. Third: Which vitamins are important for children. The most appropriate answers are best obtained from your pediatrician who knows your child. The CDC has a great website about nutrition, including vitamins for kids: http://www.cdc.gov/HealthyYouth/nutrition/index.htm
