Is pleurisy contagious?

Pleurisy is not a contagious condition. However, sometimes the condition that leads to pleurisy is contagious. Infections such as influenza, pneumonia, and tuberculosis, which are the main cause of pleurisy, are all contagious conditions. If you come into contact with someone who has pleurisy because of a viral infection, it may be a good idea to limit your physical contact and to wash your hands afterward.
