There can be many reasons why someone would choose not to use a prosthesis. Age or other health conditions can prevent the successful use of an artificial limb. If someone lacks the mental ability to use a prosthesis correctly, additional injuries are possible. Some individuals may feel that it's not worth all of the time and expense to be fitted for a prosthesis. So while for some there are major psychological as well as physical benefits to using a prosthesis, others find that looking a little "different" is not an issue for them.
