Is spastic paralysis serious?

Spastic paralysis is a serious condition in that it can affect the quality of life for those with the condition. Individuals with the condition have difficulty moving or achieving normal range of motion and may require a cane or wheelchair to get around. When the condition is caused by cerebral palsy, additional challenges are presented. Children with cerebral palsy often have other medical conditions (such as trouble with sucking and swallowing reflexes) and their life expectancy is sometimes limited.
