How should a cosmesis prosthesis be fitted?

This most important part of a prosthesis is the interface, which is the socket and frame. The proper fit of the interface, which is custom designed by a prosthetist, is vital if the prosthesis is to function properly and be comfortable. If the socket distributes the weight evenly and fits snuggly, it will allow the user to have optimal control of the prosthesis and keep it from damaging the stump. After the fitting, the prosthetist attaches the components to the interface and makes sure everything is in alignment.
