Are mobility impairments serious?

Mobility impairments are serious, life-altering conditions. The most serious cases can lead to permanent paralysis of either body parts or your entire body. Even less severe cases affect the way you live by forcing you to adjust to your physical limitations. You may need prolonged physical therapy and may have to re-learn how to perform certain activities. If you cannot fully regain your strength and flexibility, you may require permanent use of equipment like a wheelchair, crutches, or braces.
