What are the possible side effects of Xalkori?

Xalkori (crizotinib), which treats one kind of lung cancer, has many possible side effects. It can cause QT interval prolongation, a risky condition where the heart beats fast or abnormally. Other problems involve the liver and respiratory system, such as a swelling in the lungs called pneumonitis. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
  • an abnormal heartbeat
  • breathing difficulties
  • extreme tiredness, yellowing skin or eyes, or pain on the right side of your stomach
  • dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
More common but less serious side effects include:
  • changes in vision, including flashes of light, floaters, blurriness or extra sensitivity
  • diarrhea, vomiting, constipation or nausea
  • swelling, pain or discomfort
Talk to your doctor about any symptoms that are bothersome or do not go away.
