What is Protropin?

Protropin is no longer available in the United States.

Protropin is a synthetic version of the human growth hormone and is also known by the generic name somatrem. Protropin is produced through recombinant DNA technology and contains a sequence of amino acids that mimics natural human growth hormone produced by the pituitary gland. Protropin is prescribed to stimulate growth in children who suffer from certain medical conditions. It is no longer available for in the United States.
