Polythiazide is no longer available in the United States.

Polythiazide is a diuretic, or water pill, used to control edema (fluid retention) caused by heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, kidney disease, or the side effects of hormone and steroid treatments. Polythiazide is sometimes used with or without other medications for high blood pressure. Polythiazide is available under the brand name Renese.
