What is Hycodan?

Hycodan is no longer available in the United States.

Hycodan was a brand name of a combination medication used to relieve the cough associated with the common cold. It contains hydrocodone, a narcotic that suppresses the urge to cough at a lower dose than is needed for pain relief, and homatropine, an anticholinergic drug that has unpleasant effects that deter abuse. Hycodan has been discontinued in the US; the combination is available as a generic product and as the brand Hydromet.
