What is Hyalgan?

Hyalgan is no longer available in the United States.

Hyalgan is a prescription medication used to lubricate the knee joints. Hyalgan is similar in composition to synovial fluid, a substance produced by the body that cushions the knee joints and keeps them functioning smoothly. Hyalgan is injected into the knee(s) of people with osteoarthritis who have not responded to other forms of treatment. Hyalgan is also available under the brand names Euflexxa and Supartz.
