What is Hivid?

Hivid is no longer available in the United States.

Hivid, the prescription medication zalcitabine, was used to treat human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV. Hivid treats HIV by preventing the HIV-causing cells from reproducing. Although Hivid is an antiviral medication, it does not cure HIV or AIDS or prevent you from spreading HIV. Hivid has been discontinued due to the creation of more modern treatments and the reports of potentially fatal reactions due to Hivid treatment.
