Gentian violet is no longer available in the United States.

Gentian violet is an antifungal medicine used to treat different types of fungal infections. The antifungal medicine can treat fungus infections of the mouth, also called thrush, and the skin with a topical solution. It works by targeting and killing the fungus causing the infection. You do not need a prescription for the gentian topical solution.
