Flovent is a corticosteroid formulated for inhalation. Steroids are hormones, secreted by the outer layer of the adrenal gland, that have many functions in the human body. The name of the active ingredient in Flovent is fluticasone. Flovent is intended for chronic use to prevent recurring breathing problems like asthma.
